Final Thoughts on Twitter

I’ve learned that Twitter is a fantastic way to share information and exchange ideas with other educators.  Once I became more comfortable with hashtags and how to talk to others I couldn’t wait to spend time exploring.  A few minutes a day gives me new ideas, websites and links to use in my classroom.

One person that I’ve been following is Terie Engelbrecht (@mrsebiology).  She’s a fellow science teacher who shares all kinds of helpful information through her blog and also includes links to other sites.  One recent tweet was a link to a research study on whether screencasts help students learn.

I think that I will continue to use Twitter professionally after this assignment.  I prefer to use Facebook for personal communication as it allows longer conversations but Twitter is perfect for sharing information and ideas quickly.  I will also use it to communicate with students and parents.

  1. GREAT! Glad you are finding a use for Twitter in the educational setting! Like you said, FB is a tool for a certain purpose, Twitter for another. Keep developing that PLN and try out the #scichat for more create resources.
